Oahu Online Meetings

Purpose

This page has been created to assist Oahu AA members to find locally hosted online meetings during the COVID-19 crisis. There are many online meetings available in locations around the world through the internet and while we encourage you to explore, our mission will be to highlight meetings being hosted from Oahu.

Attending an Online Meeting Guide

Our friends at the A.A. Intergroup of SF and Marin have an excellent brief guide to the things you’ll need to know to attend an A.A. meeting online in Zoom. Here’s their guide, ATTENDING ONLINE MEETINGS WITH ZOOM.

REPORTS OF MEETINGS BEING DISRUPTED – IMPORTANT

We have had several reports of meetings being disrupted by non-members joining the meeting and then disrupting the meeting by a number of means including showing unwanted videos (unsafe for work types of videos). Please follow these links for excellent guides on preventing this sort of things from happening to your meeting:

ONLINE MEETING HOSTS SHOULD READ THE FOLLOWING:

In the interest of keeping all the meetings listed on our Online Meeting Listings page informed, we ask all online meeting hosts to read the following article posted by Zoom. The OIG does not endorse nor are we affiliated with Zoom.  April 2020: Setting updates for free accounts and single Pro users

These changes, as noted in the article linked above may already have been implemented by Zoom in some cases. All hosts should immediately check their settings and take whatever appropriate action their group has discussed and approved.

Online Meeting List

Before attending a meeting, please consider reading the SF/Marin IG’s great article on maintaining your anonymity in an online meeting: PERSONAL ANONYMITY IN AN ONLINE ZOOM MEETING

Important: Zoom has implemented new security measures yesterday. Free and Pro account meetings now require a password and the waiting room has been turned on by default. The meetings highlighted in yellow may not be reachable based on the information that has been provided to the Oahu Intergroup of Hawaii. You may be able to join them, we do not know. Please contact members of the group to find out their current status. Here is the link the article Zoom published several days ago (posted above as well): April 2020: Setting updates for free accounts and single Pro users

Please select the day of the week using the tabs above to see the meetings for that day.

Meetings are being hosted by groups and individuals and members are being invited individually and through private Facebook groups. Meetings listed here have been submitted to the Oahu Intergroup of Hawaii for inclusion on this site. Currently, we are providing a viewable spreadsheet with meetings listed by:

  1. Day of the Week
  2. Meeting Time (start and end times)
  3. Meeting Type (open, women, etc.)
  4. Capacity (room size – there is often a limit on how many people may join)
  5. Group or Host Name
  6. Location (Oahu or more specific – we will consider off-island locations)
  7. Zoom Link to Join (or other software links to join)
  8. Meeting Id (if necessary)
  9. Password To Join (if applicable, not all meetings use them)
  10. Phone Dial-In (if applicable)

Please keep in mind that meetings listed may be visited by anyone who visits and not necessarily only alcoholics. If you wish to list a closed meeting, it should be done through a private social media group or member to member. We will accept meetings listed as closed, but please keep in mind, anyone can join.

Submit New Meeting or Change Existing Listing

To submit an existing online meeting for listing or to make changes to the current listing please include all the information listed above as well as contact information so we can verify information or inform you of changes. To submit your meeting, please use our online submission form found on our ONLINE MEETING SUBMISSION FORM.

Submitting a meeting for online listing does not automatically change the group’s status on the regular (physical) meeting schedule. The group’s Intergroup Rep or Group Contact must still contact the Central Office to change the group’s physical status.

To change the status of a Physical Group or Meeting, please see our the following Add or Change form.

Physical Group Add or Change form (online)

Note: Please check the current listing first to be sure you aren’t submitting a duplicate listing. We will be updating the Online Meeting list once a day so your entry may not show up immediately.

Software

Meetings are being held using a variety of software. It is not our intention to promote the use of any specific software. However, given the COVID-19 crisis and our desire that as many A.A. members as possible are able to safely participate in meetings, we note that many meetings are being held using Zoom and there are excellent instructions for its use currently on the New York Inter-Group site. We intend to create our own documents going forward, but for now, please visit the New York Intergroup’s sites for their excellent information:

  1. Online (zoom, etc.) Meeting Set Up: Help!
  2. ZOOM Meetings Protecting Anonymity & Default Settings
  3. IG Toolkit for Handling Unwanted Meeting Disruptions

Meetings Outside Oahu and Hawaii

There are also meetings being held throughout the country and worldwide. The link below will take you to the Online Inter-Group which is also linked to through the AA.org website.

Reports of Disruptions During Online Meetings

We have recently had several reports of meetings being disrupted by individuals and 'gangs' that enter meetings and proceed to take it over. There are many settings you can use to stop this behavior and protect your meeting. Both the NY Intergroup and the SF/Marin Intergroup have excellent articles on how to set up your site and protect your meeting.

Our thanks go out to both these Intergroups for their valuable assistance during the COVID-19 crisis.

ONLINE MEETING HOSTS SHOULD READ THE FOLLOWING: (Released 4/3/2020)

In the interest of keeping all the meetings listed on our Online Meeting Listings page informed, we ask all online meeting hosts to read the following article posted by Zoom. Please encourage the hosts of meetings you attend to read and adopt the settings and practices that are appropriate for your meeting. If you find other tips that work well for your meeting, please pass them along to us so that we can all share in your experience.
